ARTWORK

SJM Promotional Marketing Agency prides itself on its ability to imprint our client's logo or graphic on just about anything! Graphics designed for websites or print pieces may not be in the appropriate format for imprinting on a three-dimensional product.  Artwork is considered "ready" when it can be used for pre-press and printing without the need for modifications that might incur extra charges or cause delays.  By being aware of artwork guidelines, these situations can be avoided.

We require artwork to be submitted in vector format as an AI or EPS file.  It is important to note that artwork must be created in vector format by programs like Adobe Illustrator®, Macromedia FreeHand®, and CorelDRAW® and not contain embedded rasterized images.   For full color projects, art must be submitted to size at a minimum of 300dpi.  You will receive an art proof shown to size for your approval prior to an order being placed.  Typesetting, design assistance and conversion of art to vector format is available for an additional fee.

To better understand the importance of using vector artwork, below we have shown an illustration of the difference between a .jpg art file and a vector format art file.

Art example 1

In this example, notice how the .jpg loses color, clarity and strong lines as it is manipulated.  You can see how the vector file above maintains solid lines and crisp images, even when enlarged.  Vector art can be taken apart and manipulated easily to accommodate various product imprint specifications.  It is essential to think about imprint areas as they vary greatly from product to product.  The size of the imprint can determine which logo or graphic your company can use, as well as placement of tiles, tag lines or various aspects of your logo or graphic within the imprint area.

The following example illustrates art placement and color.  The original vector art is in a vertical format.  Below, this file has been manipulated and placed horizontally and shown as a one-color imprint and as a two-color imprint.

SJM also stores your artwork for future projects.  This makes repeat orders more cost effective since many improvements for new projects, such as adding a line of text, can be done within a 15-minute time frame without incurring additional art editing charges.
